China is planning the implementation of gigantic projects that have been summarized under the name NEW SILK ROAD (新絲綢之路 / 新丝绸之路, Xīn Sīchóuzhīlù) since 2013. This involves the construction and expansion of intercontinental trade and infrastructure networks between the People's Republic of China and over 60 other countries in Africa, Asia and Europe. The name was chosen in reference to the historic Silk Road.The official Chinese name for the projects is 一帶一路 / 一带一路, Pinyin Yīdài Yīlù - "One Belt, One Road."

My team and I have been moving along the trade route between Southeast Asia and Europe for two decades, in different functions and for different employers. My name is Bernd Slodnik and i was born in Northrine-Westfalia, Germany in 1971. 

 

After finishing my study of business administration, I started working for the OBI Group as a product manager in 1997. After four years, OBI offered me a one-year stay in the Hong Kong office to enhance my international orientation and to learn more about the Asian culture. During this time, I was the coordinator of all projects between the German headquarter and our partners in Southeast Asia. I was the contact person for both sides! That was when my Asian adventure began, which continues to this day.

 

My adventure has been going on for 20 years now, years in which I have built up excellent knowledge about the procurement market of Southeast Asia and India through numerous trips and the execution of complex projects. My personal affinity for Asia and my knowledge of multicultural business exchange have ensured that my supplier network has steadily grown and continues to grow.
